One Million Degrees Student Emergency Fund Grant Request



We acknowledge your interest in One Million Degrees Emergency Grant. Unfortunately, this grant is closed for the school year. 

Overview


At One Million Degrees, we are committed to ensuring you are supported personally, professionally, and financially as you work to finish your degree and achieve your goals. The purpose of the OMD Emergency Fund is to provide students with timely financial assistance to cover expenses that are not always covered by other emergency funds.  


Currently we are able to assist in the following fund needs:

  • Car Repair

  • Rent

  • Household needs and supplies (e.g. cleaning supplies, masks, hand sanitizer, hygiene products)

  • Food assistance

  • Internet/wifi

  • Phone/Phone Bill

  • Car insurance/car notes

  • Laptops

  • Some others (on case-by-case basis) 

We are continuously working towards expanding our funds outside of these categories and we will keep students updated to any changes. 


There is currently a cap of $250 for the emergency grant. Previous applicants may apply for additional funds, but total emergency funds received should not exceed $250. Funding will be dispersed on a first come first served basis until funds are exhausted. Aon & All State Apprentices are eligible to apply.

To apply for the OMD Emergency grant, please fill out and submit the following form. Additional information or documentation will be required. You will receive an automated email with next steps upon the completion of this grant request.


Your application will not be complete until you have uploaded documentation to this form. Completed applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Below is the required documentation based on the type of assistance you need:

  • Tuition & Fees (No reimbursements, includes past due fees)

  • CTA-UPass

  • Transportation Repairs

  • Childcare Expenses (Enrollment Fees, Monthly Payment, etc)

  • Medical Expenses 


There is currently a cap of $200 for the emergency grant per school year. Previous applicants may apply for additional funds, but total emergency funds received should not exceed $200. Funding will be dispersed on a first come first served basis until funds are exhausted. All students from City Colleges of Chicago campuses are eligible to apply.

Note: If your request is approved, your grant payment will be distributed based on the preference you've indicated previously: either through direct deposit, mailed to your home, or held in person for pick up.
